Social Responsibility: Our Commitment to a Better Future

Scientific progress and social responsibility belong together. By supporting social projects worldwide, we aim to improve living conditions and create opportunities for people in need. This includes access to clean drinking water, promoting education and research, and supporting children and families in challenging situations.

We work closely with the GESINAS Foundation to support projects that create lasting positive change. By combining our resources and expertise, we help provide access to clean water, education, healthcare, and community development for people in need worldwide.

Completed projects

In Chiang Rai province, in the “Golden Triangle” region of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, many poor families live in mountainous areas with limited farmland. To offer an alternative to infamous opium poppy cultivation, this project supports very poor families, single women, and elderly people in establishing sustainable pig farming. A one-time support package costs about 200 EUR and includes three piglets (20 kg each) and assistance in building a pig shelter.

The GESINAS Foundation, together with ImmunoTools GmbH, coordinates, trains, and provides ongoing support to participating families – depending on donor funding for the start-up packages.

The Khaodee Orphanage, located in Chiang Rai province within the “Golden Triangle” of Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, aims to provide sustainable income through piglet breeding. The orphanage has experience and facilities for pig breeding, but several key breeding sows recently died from disease, and funds to replace them are lacking. This project plans to restore the breeding stock by providing six resilient sows at a cost of 250 Euro each (total 1500 Euro). The piglets are sold at around 20 kg, generating income for the orphanage and supporting local families with sustainable pig farming.

The GESINAS Foundation, together with ImmunoTools GmbH, will coordinate the project, offer training on pig care and breeding, and ensure regular veterinary support. Further information

Funding: The BEA Foundation fully funded this project with a donation of 1500 EUR immediately after its announcement. We, along with the children and staff of the Khaodee Orphanage, sincerely thank the BEA Foundation and Beatrix Ackermann for this generous support.

The Guaraní in Misiones, Argentina, have lost their environment and traditions due to deforestation, facing poverty and lack of education.

This GESINAS project, in cooperation with ImmunoTools, supports them in honey production to generate income and improve living conditions. A bee colony with a handmade hive costs 100 EUR, aiming to establish around 1,900 colonies. Further information

Funding: The first 100 EUR for this project were donated shortly after its launch. We and the Guaraní thank the donors for their generous support.

The Mae Na Chorn children’s home in Thailand provides food for 50 children through small-scale farming. However, vegetable harvests are low due to poor soil, despite having organic fertilizer.

This project aims to install an aquaponics system to increase vegetable yields, similar to a successful system in Mae Hae. Total costs are 2,000 EUR, with GESINAS and ImmunoTools covering half if a donor can be found for the remaining 1,000 EUR. Further information

Funding: Professor Stephan Grabbe and Sabine Homann-Grabbe generously donated the required 1,000 EUR shortly after the project launch. We and the children at Mae Na Chorn thank them very much for this support.

The children’s home in Mae La Noi, Thailand, cares for 10 teenagers. Previously, water was collected from a nearby reservoir and filtered for drinking. Due to drought, the reservoir has dried up and will likely not recover.

This project aims to install a water pump to bring water from lower areas to the children’s home. The pump costs 960 EUR, with GESINAS  and ImmunoTools covering half if a donor is found for the remaining 480 EUR. Further information

Funding: Prof. Stephan Grabbe and Sabine Homann-Grabbe generously donated the required 480 EUR immediately after the project launch. We and the children of Mae La Noi thank them very much for this support.

Access to clean water is essential for life but remains a challenge for many communities. Without alternatives, people often rely on polluted water sources, leading to illness and death.

ImmunoTools supports the installation of BioSand Filters, a technology developed in Canada and now used worldwide. These filters provide clean drinking water while reducing the need for wood to boil water, protecting health and the environment. Further information

Funding: We have donated 13 RainTree Foundation BioSand Filters in Thailand to provide clean water to families in need. To see pictures of the project, please click here.
